NSS cell of SRM organized a special camp for school children recently at Govt. Primary School at Thiruthaveli village, Kanchipuram District.
Dr. Vaithiyanathan, Director, Sports, inaugurated tree plantation program along with Dr. T. Rajasekaran, NSS program coordinator, who also briefed about the special camp. Dr. Vaithiyanathan addressed the gathering, he emphasized the importance of nature and protecting natural resources as one of the primary duty of every individual. Followed by which, water drums to carry drinking water, writing pads with the print of Clean India in Tamil and English, ceiling fans and different sports goods were donated to school children.
Some of the activities conducted by SRM NSS are Survey and awareness on disposal of solid wastes among villagers, Tree plantation in the school campus and village premises, Rally on the importance of cleanliness, Wall paintings on phonetics and Swachh Bharat and awareness slogans, School and Temple cleaning, Awareness to students on personal hygiene, dental care and prevention of worm infestation and Conduction of Spoken English class for students.
The special camp concluded with the vote of thanks by a Parent thanking the team of SRM NSS for their efforts in making the children understand the importance of saving nature and for shaping a better environmental future.
