SRM University Tennis Men's Team Wins Gold Medal in South Inter University Table Tennis Championship

SRM University Table Tennis Men's team won Gold Medal in South Inter University Table Tennis Championship 

The sport event was Organized by Anna University and was held at Sri Sai Ram Engineering College, Chennai between 24th to 26th December 2016.

The victory has qualified them to participate in the All India Inter University Table Tennis Men Tournament which will be held at Chitkara University (HP), between 13th to 17th February, 2017 .

This is a hat trick victory for SRM University players and Physical Director (Manager) SRM University, Mr. M. Senthil Kumar

    SRM Football Men's Team Secured Runners Up in State Inter University Football Tournament

    Tamil Nadu State Inter University Football Tournament for Men

    The Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Melakottaiyur organized a State Inter University Football Tournament beween December 21 to 23, 2016.

    SRM University Football Men's Team secured Runners Up in the tournament and received a cash prize of Rs. 1,35,000 / from the Sports Development Authority of Government of Tamil Nadu.

    The team included 18 players and each player received Rs.7,500/ from the cash prize

    Attention: B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Des, M.Tech, M.Arch - (Credit System) students

    As per the regulations of the above degree programme,  it is proposed to offer compensatory courses by all schools / departments of Faculty of Engineering and Technology, to the students detained for lack of attendance (Grade W) in all semester subjects of B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Des, M.Tech, M.Arch Degree Programme (Credit System).

    Eligibility for the Students to Register in the Compensatory Courses

    Students admitted during 2007-08 to 2012-13
    The students having Grade W (lack of attendance) can register from 18.01.2017 to 24.01.2017.
    The students having Grade U (failed) and Grade I (absent) can also register for the subjects available in the student info from 30.01.2017 to 02.02.2017.

    About: 

    Dr. Junaid Masud Laskar is a physicist pursuing research at the interface of soft matter photonics, soft matter physics, nanophysics, optical engineering, optics, ultrafast optics and optical technique development. Dr. Junaid has investigated the light-matter interaction, structural transition dynamics, crystallization, particle contact force distribution and mechanics of soft matters (magnetic nanofluid, magnetic emulsion, colloidal gel and granular matter), particularly their interaction with external stimuli (field, stress etc.) at different length scales, using existing experimental techniques (mainly optical) and also by developing new techniques, which also includes the design of optical lens systems (microscope objective lens etc.).

    Dr. Junaid has been working as a Research Assistant Professor in SRM Research Institute and Department of Physics and Nanotechnology, SRM University since September 2016. He has developed a light scattering technique to study the structural transitions in magnetic field polarizable soft matters, during his doctoral (Ph.D.) research at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, India. During his postdoctoral tenure at Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, Mainz, Germany, he has worked on the “determination of 3D structural topological origin of elasticity in colloidal gel under compressive strain”. During postdoctoral research at Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization, Goettingen, Germany, he has designed and developed a stress resolving two photon fluorescence microscope to measure 3D contact force distribution in hard, frictional granular packing of ruby spheres.

    The Tamil Nadu State Inter University Kabaddi Men's Tournament – 2016  was  organized by Mononmaniam Sundaranar University under the auspices of Sports Development of Authority of Tamil Nadu, between 29 and 30 December 2016. As per the SDAT Norms first three place received cash prize Rs 10, 000, (Per head), Rs 7,500(Per Head) and Rs 5000 (Per Head) for teams.

    SRM University Kabaddi Men's Team  were declared the winners and  secured Rs.1,20,000/- cash prize (12 Players, 10000 each).

    About: 

    Dr. Ghosh joined SRM Research Institute & Department of Mathematics, SRM University as a Research Assistant Professor in August 2016. Before joining SRM University, he was working as a post-doctoral research associate at Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, Bengaluru. He completed his PhD in the year 2015 from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, Chennai. After the submission of PhD thesis, he has continued his research career as an institute postdoctoral fellow at IIT Madras, Chennai from August 2015 to May 2016. Dr. Ghosh received his M.Sc. degrees in Mathematics also from IIT Madras, Chennai in the year 2011.

    Dr. Ghosh mainly works on Fluid Dynamics and related areas of Applied Mathematics. His Current research aims:

    • to examine the linear and nonlinear stability characteristics of thin film flows in different geometries,
    • to understand the physical mechanism that causes the instabilities in the wall bounded as well as free surface flows,
    • to look for methods to control the instabilities.

    Awards and Fellowships: 

    • Got best Ph.D. thesis award in Mathematics from IIT- Madras, Chennai .
    • Got Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship from West Bengal Govt. and IIT Madras, India.
    • Selected for visiting scholar under CTS Visitors Program at the Centre for Theoretical studies, IIT Kharagpur, India.
    •  Awarded research grant for one year research fellow position by Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Brussels, Belgium.
