The Department of EIE is recognized as a Training Partner for Industrial Automation by Instrumentation Automation Surveillance & Communication (IASC) Sector Skill Council under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India. 

Through this skill development program, students are trained and certified with Industrial Automation Specialist by NSDC, Govt. of India.

Certificate Course on Building Automation

The Department of EIE is recognized as a Placement oriented Training Partner for Building Automation by Johnson Controls, India.

As part of this engagement, we offer a course on Building Management System (BMS) to the III year students. At the end of this course students will be offered intern cum placement with the company.

Certificate Course on Factory Automation

Department of Electronics and Instrumentation has established the Center of Excellence in Factory Automation in Collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric, a Japan based company.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is signed with Mitsubishi Electric for a joint training center which is aimed to train the students in automation field and to improve the core competency and employability skills which makes them industry ready.

The center facilitates a multi-disciplinary learning environment across technology which is equipped with PLC, HMI, Servo systems and Variable Frequency Drives.

Desktop laptop the use of familiar technology like desktop or laptop makes students feel more comfortable and confident.

The objective of such class rooms are to invoke interest in education among the student by introducing them to real time e-learning with help of audios and videos multimedia images-or-line web conferences, PPT presentation in the SRM Institute of science and technology all class room and conference, seminar halls.

SRM alumni donate 100 vaporizers to workers

The 2017 batch alumni of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), led Neelesh Kumar Kuttala and Pavan have donated 100 vaporizers to SRMIST maintenance workers and hospital staff. This was done by the duo’s initiative - Bhishma and Abhimanyu under the theme 'Humanity Starts With Charity' in bid to help the underprivileged fight COVID.

Present during the handover ceremony were SRMIST's Vice Chancellor (Interim) Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Registrar (Interim) Dr. S. Ponnusamy, Deputy Registrar and Director (SRM Institute of Hotel Management) Dr. Antony Ashok Kumar, Deputy Registrar Mr. Wordsworth Manivannan, and Associate Director (Campus life) & Nodal Officer UBA Dr. V. Thirumurugan. This was undertaken through the Director (Alumni Affairs) Dr. A. Rathinam.

Speaking at the event, Neelesh said, "Several of my school teachers were affected due to this pandemic. During the first wave, I reached out to them and helped them get back on their feet. Now I want to do something for my Institution and hence I came up with this idea."

Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan said, "We are proud that our alumni remember and think about their Alma mater after they leave the institution."

SRM Instates its Home-Grown Talent to the Top Leadership Position of the University

Dr-Muthamizhchelvan-vcSRM Institute of Science and Technology, an internationally acclaimed and Category 1 private university headquartered in Chennai with multiple campuses across India has appointed Prof. Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan as its 5th Vice Chancellor.

Dr. Muthamizhchelvan is a home-grown talent of SRM who has started his career as a lecturer in the department of physics and is a part of the institution over 35+ years. His experience and global exposure would set a new milestone for the university in the ever-changing education space. The Founder Chancellor on the occasion of welcoming the new Vice Chancellor, set a strong message to the internal community on his trust on fellow members and freedom to grow within and lead.

Dr. Muthamizhchelvan on assuming office as Vice Chancellor shared his thoughts as a first note. SRM IST is a unique breed of multi-stream university outgrown from challenges of the century through its agility, valor and culture. It has been a land of opportunities for the academic and innovation community turning to the brighter sides for more than a lakh of students and researchers.  The new age challenges require thorough understanding of global learning eco system and the strongly inherited strengths of the university to set new benchmark in the education space. I believe, our visionary leader, Founder/Chancellor has seeded this idea in me from my early days and has now handed over the mantle of Vice-Chancellor, SRM IST to me to lead this prestigious university towards making a strong impact.

As a home-grown talent of SRM my focus (I SEE) on this role will be to,

  • Intensify efforts and consistently improve processes in the changing paradigm of teaching and learning

Vice Chancellor of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan was honored with the prestigious “Vocational Excellence Award” recently.

He was honored at the installation program of Rotary International - RI District 3232 new President held in Maraimalai Nagar, Chengalpattu District.

The award was presented by Kalaimamani Rtn. S.V.R.M. Ramanathan RI – 3230 PDG Governor, Madras Central, (2003 – 2004) for his tireless service in the field of Education, with special mention of his conscientious dedication, high standing excellence, and contribution.
