Designation:
Assistant Professor
About:

Dr.T.V. Lakshmi Kumar, joined Department of Physics, SRM University in 2009 after completing his Ph.D from Andhra University in the year 2008. Later he has come to SRM Research Institute in March 2016. Lakshmi Kumar works in the areas of hydrometeorology and aerosol science. He established a research laboratory at SRM University to carry out the research in atmospheric sciences and meteorology and the infrastructure of the laboratory is funded by the government agencies such as ISRO RESPOND, SPL, DST SERB etc. He has completed two projects sponsored by ISRO RESPOND and DST Fast track Young Scientist Scheme on TRMM rainfall comparison with IMD gridded data and the sensitivity of agroclimatic indices to satellite Normalized Difference Vegetation Index data over India respectively. Presently, he is the Principal Investigator of two projects on aerosol characteristics over Chennai and Moisture recycling and Atmospheric Residence times over India funded by Space Physics Laboratory, VSSC, Trivandrum and DST SERB respectively. One student is awarded with Ph.D degree under his guidance for her work on aerosol shortwave radiative forcing over Chennai. Two research students are currently pursuing Ph.D in moisture recycling and drought monitoring from remote sensing techniques. He is also the Co Principal Investigator of a Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt of India project on Satellite Meteorology Cell at SRM University.
