The Department of Genetic Engineering has perfected the art of global student mobility, through its signature annual event called SAP GENETICS, when it bids adieu to Semester Abroad Programme (SAP) students.
This year was no different when SAP Genetics 2015, on 4 November, 2015, gave a rousing send off to nearly 50 students with offers from 7 countries and 13 leading lights of higher learning: Harvard Univrsity, Yale University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Texas A and M University, Pennsylvania State University, University of Washington, Loma Linda University, University of Utah in USA; Umea and Uppsala University in Sweden; University of Zurich in Switzerland; Tzu Chi University in Taiwan; Singapore Cancer Institute of the National University of Singapore; University of Warwick in UK; German Cancer Research Centre in Germany.
SRM is the only university in India offering genetic engineering courses in B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D. The Department of Genetic Engineering at SRM has built an enviable record of relationships and partnerships with leading institutions across the world. It is through these relationships built assiduously over a period of time that lends itself to the many SAP placements of its students.
Many of the students who spoke in the SAP GENETICS 2015 function recounted their career ambitions and the excitement of going abroad to carry out their research projects. Doting parents were in attendance to share the excitement of their wards in an emotional farewell they will undoubtedly remember for the rest of their lives.
