WORKSHOPS & C.M.E. CONDUCTED BY MEDICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT -  DETAILS
 
  • A Workshop on Medical Education for Medical Teachers was conducted on 27th April 2007/  The Vice-Chancellor, Dr.P. Satyanarayanan, inaugurated the session and Dr. Medha Joshi from Ramayya Medical College, Bangalore delivered a guest lecture.
  • A Student Symposium on Diabetes Mellitus was organized in association with the Department of Internal Medicine on 27th July 2007.  The students spoke on various aspects of the disease, using PowerPoint presentations effectively.
  • An Integrated Symposium on Hypertension was held on 5th September 2007 to commemorate Teachers’ Day.  Faculty from the pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical departments participated and offered an integrated perspective of the subject.
  • A Workshop on Medical Education Technology (Teaching /Learning /Evaluation) was conducted on 23rd and 24th November 2007.  The Dean, Prof. Dr.K. Chellappan, inaugurated the event.  Assistant Professors from various departments in the college and hospital participated in the two day faculty development programme.
  • Workshop on Research Methodology was conducted on the Teachers’ Day the 5th and 6th of Sep. 2008.  Dr. Kochupillai, Director, Ramaiah Medical College Bangalore participated as Chief Guest.  Dr. Vel Pandian, Dr. Venkatesan, Dr. Parani, Dr. Sathish were the guest speakers and 51 delegates participated the workshop and made it a great success.
  • Second Annual Workshop on Medical Education Technology (Teaching/Learning & Evaluation) was conducted on 9th and 10th January 2009.  15 Asst. Professors of SRM Medical College participated.
  • Students and Teachers Symposium on Headache was conducted on 15.04.2009.  Final year MBBS Students and teachers participated the symposium.  The Heads of Departments participated and presented the various causes of Headache and treatments for the same was illustrated. 
  • A symposium on Swine flu H1 N1 was conducted on 24.06.2009 and various reasons of its generation and preventive measures and Medicines were discussed by local Heads.
  • A “Symposium on Tuberculosis” Session I was conducted on 02.07.2009  & 14.07.2009 in two Sessions.  Teachers and about 200 students and participated in both of the Sessions. 
  • A two day Workshop on “Research Methodology” was conducted on 23rd and 24th Sep. 2009.  Teaching Faculty and about 150 students participated and 28 teaching faculty are given training.
  • Annual Workshop on Medical Education Technology,  (Teaching/Learning/Evaluation) was conducted on 04.12.2009 and 05.12.2009. 40 Junior Faculty have received training in this Workshop.
  • A students symposium on Papillodema was organized by Medical Education Department on 24.03.2010, mainly for our CRRI and students and it was a great success.  200 attended the Workshop.
  • The Coordinator, Dr. V.M.Loganathan underwent training along with Dr. V. Mangayarkarasi, Microbiology Department   a four days workshop from 10th to 13th March 2010, organized by Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, at their Porur Campus as per MCI Instructions and norms.
  • Workshop on Medical Education Technology (Teaching/Learning /Evaluation) was conducted for three days from 17.07.2010 to 19.07.2010 and the newly joined Medical Teachers were given training.
  • Symposium “Stroke” was conducted on 25.08.2010.  CRRIs, Final Year Students and Pre-final year students about 400 Nos. took part
  • Annual Workshop on Research Methodology was conducted on 28.10.2010 and 29.10.2010.  51 Assistant professors from Medical and Para-medical took part.  Eminent Professor, vice, Dr. Kashmir Raja, Dean, SPH & Director, ICMR, Chennai were guest Speakers. 
  • Symposium on “Carrier Guidance for our CRRI” was conducted on 09.03.2011 at our Seminar Hall.  Eminent Professors spoke and gave various guidance like Armed Service, Govt. Service, General Practitioner etc., and blessed the out going First batch of SRM, young doctors.  About 150 people attended the session.
  • Medical Education Department has successfully conducted the Students-expert Interaction Programmeon Immunology on 9th June 2011.  This has been the unique learning opportunity for students and CRRIs to get familiar with the latest advancements in the field of connective tissue disorders.  About 200 students along with CRRIs participated and prizes were distributed to the best interactions.
  • A special  Workshop on Research Methodology was conducted on 26.07.2011 and 27.07.2011, designed for our  Post Graduates. 49 P.G. Students along with 5 faculy were given training  on the special instruction of the Director, Medical & Health Sciences in order  to help P.G. Students for their dissertation.  The speakers were the local Senior Professors and Dr, Venkatesan,  Director, ICMR, Chennai was the  guest Speaker. Participation certificates were issued.
  • Further on 04th and 05th September 2011, Research Methodology was conducted to help pre and para-medical PG students.  Totally 82 students participated and made the programme a grand success.  Participation certificates were issued.
  • Dr. V. Mangayarkarasi, Coordinator, underwent training at the Regional Training Centre, the Christian Medical College, Vellore, a four days workshop on Basic Medical Education Technology for Coordinators on 12th to 15th Oct. 2011.
  • On the result of the above training attained there at CMC Vellore,  the Coordinator  implemented several trainings/new methodologies here in the Basic Medical Education Technologies Programme conducted for three days from 16th to 18th November 2011.  Dr. Geethalakshmi, Dean, Kilpak Medical College was the chief Guest and Dr. Minni Faith, Senior Member, Medical Education Department, Christian Medical College, Vellore had been our guest speaker. 26 Faculty were given training.
  • A Scientific Session on “Clinical Approach to the Patients with Head Injury”, by our Deputy Dean and Vice-Principal, Dr. K.Gireesh, Neurophysician and Neurosurgeon on 12.01.2012 has been organized and successfully conducted by Medical Education Department for aiming to give intensive care on Head injury for all of our  C.R.R.I’s, totaling 123 Nos and almost all the HODs and faculty amounting to 150 Nos. (totaling around 250 Nos.) took part and participated.  He contributed Helmet for 4 CRRIs having two wheelers.  The specialty of the session is that he let all participants took a “Pledge” as to wear helmet and to abide the rules of the road when to walk or ride vehicle. 
  • Medical Education Department conducted in coordination with Department of Pulmonary Medicine conducted a CME Programme on 24.01.2012. Our Vice-Chancellor D. M. Ponnavaikko inaugurated the CME Programme and Opened COPD Awareness Centre.  Guest Speaker Dr. P.K. Thomas, M.D., DTCD., FCCP (USA), gave valuable lecture on  “COPD update” and an Anti-smoking Campaign has been organized along with human chain to create awareness to the public at GST Road near our Campus.  Around 250 people took part. We gave participation Certificates and encouraged all the participants.
  • Bio-datas have been sent for our  Dr. Shivasekhar, Dr. Logaraj and Dr. C. Balaji the Core Members of M.E.U. to undergo training at our Regional Training Centre, the CMC Vellore, on 28th, 29th and 1st March 2012, acknowledged by them.
