SRM Insitute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) is proud to announce that its student Nethra Kumanan has emerged as the winner of the Yachting Association of India (YAI) Senior Nationals 2021. The event was held in Mumbai from 1st to 6th September 2021 in INWTC (Indian Navy) area.
The event had 100+ sailing sportsmen competing in 8 categories. Nethra competed in the Laser Radial category, where she is already a national champion and had reached the Olympics.
This event had 9 races held for each category spread over 2 days. In laser radial, there was a total of 8 participants. Nethra had to be careful as the weather conditions during the monsoon time are always dicey. Nethra came first in every single race that her discard was also a number one.
