MoU With Valeo India Private Limited
SRM University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Valeo India Private Limited on July 5, 2012. Valeo is an industrial group focused on the design, production and sale of components, systems and modules for automotive industry. Dr. T. P. Ganesan, the Pro-Vice Chancellor welcomed the dignitaries from Valeo.
The officials from Valeo India Private Limited recalled their earlier visit to SRM University and they said that SRM never fails to impress them. Prof. S. Ganapathy, Dean, Placement then introduced the guests to the gathering. Mr. P. R. Damodharan, Group President, Valeo India then presided over and explained the continuing collaboration of Valeo India Private Limited with SRM University. Mr. P. R. Damodharan briefed that Valeo yields 70,000 crore revenue per year. Stating the salient features of the organization, he said that there is synergy with the four business groups in Valeo powertrain systems, thermal systems, comfort and driving assistance systems and visibility systems of valeo. "We are interested to work with institutions like SRM as such collaboration will minimize the gap between industry and academic institution", he added.
Mr. P. R. Damodharan said that our group has always been cautious to reduce the carbon footprint and we are spending half of our revenue on carbon dioxide reduction projects. Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Director, Engineering and Technology briefed the growth of SRM University since 1985.He said that the University has a population of about 35,000 students. He stated that SRM University would be happy to accommodate representatives from Valeo to be a part of board of studies and assist the University in revamping the curriculum so that the students of SRM University are well received in their future workplaces.
Dr. T. P. Ganesan, the Pro-Vice Chancellor in his felicitation address said that such MoUs will enhance the scope of interdisciplinary research and he added that industry institute interaction has always been given importance at SRM University. Dr. Kingsley Jebasingh, Head of the Department, Mechanical Engineering delivered the vote of thanks. He congratulated the placement team for facilitating the MoU. Mr. Prakash, Mr. Sriram and Ms. Yoga from Valeo were also present during the occasion.
