SRMIST’s ongoing research partnership with The Open University, UK funded by Royal Society international exchange grant explores the use of plasma processing for the functional layers in low cost solar cells (https://www.srmist.edu.in/uk-exchange-program-grant-research-faculty). To further strengthen the research links and academic co-operation, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was entered on 23rd day of October 2019 between the two institutes. Joint activities such as new joint research projects, exchange of scholars & scientists to conduct research of mutual interest, student internships and collaboration on distance education were proposed.
As the part of the ongoing collaboration (https://www.srmist.edu.in/uk-exchange-program-grant-research-faculty), A PhD scholar from SRM Research Institute has spent 2 months in Prof. Krishnamurthy’s research group at Open University UK to develop the atmospheric plasma jet printing of solar absorber films at low temperatures. In July 2019, Dr. S. Venkataprasad Bhat of SRMIST visited UK to discuss the results and expand the collaborative connections. Also, Prof. Krishnamurthy and Prof. Professor WJ Nuttall from School of Engineering and Innovation, Open University, UK visited SRMIST and held discussion with faculty members of SRMIST regarding possible collaborations. Also, Prof. Krishnamurthy holds an adjunct faculty position at SRMIST, has been the invited speaker for the events ICONN conference and DST INSPIRE camp at SRMIST, in addition to the guest talks and interaction session with SRMIST faculty/students held during his visits to SRMIST.
