An Exhilarating Welcome to all the Young Achievers!

On behalf of the Management, senior administrators, faculty and fellow students let me personally extend my warm greetings. As you make one of the most important change in your academic and personal lives let me welcome you all to the SRM family where we will go the extra mile in making sure that you face this new phase with confidence and courage. You must consider yourselves as being in the company of a privileged group and feel proud to be a part of this rich SRM heritage that goes beyond the intellectual environment. 

There are a lot things we cherish here at SRMIST and academics is just not the only one. You, as our student will need to widen your vision and look at the many enriching opportunities that also come along beyond classroom learning, labs, examinations and degrees with an absolute necessity of keeping societal needs in mind. We do appreciate it when you take the extra mile to make contributions for the betterment of the society.  SRM is a multi-faculty and multi-campus institution where faculty members encourage you to probe for deeper understanding of your chosen specializations throughout your period of study.  SRM places a premium importance on application of knowledge, research and publications of both faculty and students.  Annual Research Day, Hackathons, Professional Competitions, SAP etc. sees a rich crop of students making their presence felt in these important domains promoting innovation, incubation and entrepreneurship. 

Many of you are aware of the fact that SRM Institute of Science and Technology has A++ rating by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, the highest ranking given to educational institutions in India.  We have been given graded autonomy as a Category - I University as per the University Grants Commission (UGC).  And just as how you are not here by chance, neither was the highest grade to SRM from NAAC. We are at the top and confident to remain in that spot as a result of well thought out policies and processes that have benefitted students and faculty alike.  We are also fortunate to have a Management that does not hesitate to pour resources in any worthwhile and beneficial exercise.

SRM is also known for many things, one such aspect is its rich cultural diversity with students coming from the four corners of India, the non-resident Indian community and foreign students from the Asia Pacific, Europe, Americas and Africa. All this means that in this family of ours we have ample opportunities to learn other cultures and civilizations as well as project our own diversity be it our ways of life, language or food! That is what makes SRM so much a fun place to be. At the same time, I must also say that there could be temptations that would have to be resisted.  Aside from the fact that SRM has zero tolerance to any form of ragging, our campuses are also tobacco, alcohol and drug free and we go the extra mile in ensuring that it stays that way.

Once again, welcome to SRMIST and I am confident that you will make all of us proud and take the best out of what we have to offer.
