Smart India Hackathon 2019 was one of the largest hackathon’s conducted in the world by a Government Organization. There were over 2 Lakh Students’ participating. T R Rohith, Rishav Kundu, Prashant Gupta, Pranshu Chittora, Subhashree Hazra and Deepanwita Mukherjee, from SRM Institute of Science and Technology CSE 2nd year had formed a team named “Team Photon”. They were part of the over 1,500 teams shortlisted to be called for the Grand Finale of Software Edition. They had been shortlisted for a problem statement for “Active Server Monitoring System” given by BEML under DRDO. In which, they were asked for the ability to send out SMS and E-Mail alerts whenever a server is facing high load or goes down. As such, the students built a single point deployment system. In which the monitoring system can be deployed remotely to any server with a single click. The metrics being monitored can be changed remotely as well. The qualifying team designed a system in which the virtualized process was also monitored individually as well as the overall system. This was done to facilitate in the pinpointing of load issues. Overall, the qualifying team spent 36 hours working in our Nodal Centre Manipal Institute of Science and Technology. They worked constantly tweaking and building. Indian Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi had connected was connected to them via Video Conferencing during the Hackathon. It was a great experience for the young participants and remained very encouraging to more students to take part in such initiatives.
