SRM was the destination for 11 enthusiastic students from South Korea’s Hannam University for a 4-week immersion programme.
The visits are part of the ongoing HNU- SRM Linton Global Leadership Programme between the two institutions, where SRM has designed a credit based module with the following objectives, to improve overall communication skills, and study basic grammar and conversation in Hindi, to gain an understanding of the IT sector in India, and its contribution to the country’s economic development, to know more about Indian culture, economy and businesses, to better understand globalisation and its impact.
SRM’s relationship with Hannam University embraces both student mobility and faculty exchange. Taking a long-term view of the importance of the bilateral relationship with India, Hannam University has established an India Centre on its campus, where SRM faculty are deputed on long-term teaching assignments, giving greater shape and meaning to the relationship.
The India- South Korea relationship goes back over 2000 years, but the last three decades have seen a significant deepening of the partnership in trade, business, and culture. South Korea is a major investor in India in automobiles, IT and electronics. SRM with its proven excellence in engineering education is well poised to play an important role in the emerging relationship through academic and research links.
