SRM University signed three MoUs with Taiwan Universities, in a special event organised under 2017 Taiwan Higher Education Exhibition (THEE 2017), in Chennai recently. The event was jointly hosted by 20 universities and organizations from Taiwan, and comes closely on the back of a landmark MoU SRM signed with Taiwan Trade Centre on apprenticeships for students in companies in India and Taiwan.
SRM University Registrar Dr N Sethuraman, signed the MoUs with Asian University, Taipei Medical University and National Kaohsiung Normal University, in the presence of a galaxy of officials, including from the Presidential Office, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Taiwan.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sethuraman lauded the efforts taken by the Taiwan government to deepen the relationship with India. “ Taiwan and India share many things in common, with a rich tradition in trade, commerce and education”, he said and went on to add that the opportunities for engagement with SRM University, India’s leading private multistream university are enormous, particularly in engineering design, innovation and entrepreneurship.
SRM University is hosting the largest Taiwan Education Centre (TEC) in India, on its campus in Kattankulathur. Its mentor university in Taiwan is National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), a highly respected and ranked global university. Apart from providing Mandarin Chinese language training, the centre is promoting education, cultural and industry links between SRM University and Taiwan. The recent strengthening of SRM university partnership agenda with Taiwan have largely been promoted through the TEC.
